Hi! My best description of what happened:
At the registration screen, I entered my username and hit the "send mail"
button. Everything froze - I could not click on any other buttons or the
scroll bar on the help window. I could, however, successfully ping
vomitcomet.mit.edu from another machine. After about ten minutes, I rebooted
the machine and began the installation process again. It froze again, under
the exact same circumstances. This time, I waited for about 15 minutes,
after which everything "un-froze" and I was able to click the "next" button.
Even though I was able to continue, the registration mail was not sent. I'm
not sure what you mean by "output on other console screens," so I can't
speak to that.
The only thing that I can think of is that one of my friends claims that he
read that there can be problems installing linux with some revisions of my
ethernet card (3COM Fast EtherLink XL), but it is listed as a
recommended card on the IS webpage.
I haven't done anything after the installation that can't be easily
repeated, so I could go through the process again if it would help...
Thanks,
Erica
