So there was some breakage that happened when alex_c was working on the
linux installer (possibly on reordering the order in which the RPMs
were installed, but that's only speculation). The breakage was such
that users would get presented with a package list inappropriately, and
would tend to choose the wrong things.

Garry and Sam did a restore from tape backup, of a copy two weeks old.
It's currently in system.rhlnx.rh62.rst. Testing it through the
translator, I found the following:
  - it gives a "custom install" vs. "athena workstation" option
  - it doesn't ask you about passwd file formats, or present you with
  a package groups list

Garry has since updated the RPMs and hdlist in the .rst volume, and I'm
testing a full install from it through the translator. If that works
(and I think it should), then we should propagate to charon.

We can merge in the good changes later; I'd like to get stuff under
revision control, so we don't lose like this again.

Things that need to go back into the .rst volume include Jonathon and
Garry's changes to the post-install script, and Alex's updates to make
the custom install option not appear. The latter we should be careful
with, while the former is fairly well tested.

I'm leaving pickled installing, since it's late. There's a note on the
screen explaining, and we should propagate to charon (and probably
rename the volumes before we do so), as soon as someone's verified that
pickled seems functional.
