Unfortunately no, there is no way to get it saved into a file.
However, from what you've typed I can see that yes, you do have a
network problem. I'm surprised that your machine pings. It seems
like you're not on the network according to the "reverse name lookup
failed".
Perhaps you have the wrong network configuration? Are you using the
actual linux-athena bootdisk? Are you changing any of the
configurations from the defaults?
Another question is whether you have the 3c905b configured for
autoprobing? If so, you may want to try reconfiguring it such that
PnP is turned off and you specify the media type (10BaseT or AUI)
directly.
