Given that I don't have access to the IS cluster install
floppies, I really can't speak for what's on them (or perhaps
it's just that I don't know where they are). The 3c509c
is a drastically different card from the 3c509b and as far as
I have been able to tell requires the 3c90x driver. The boot
floppy that SIPB has (which I believe is only a very minor
variation on the stock redhat install floppy) contains the
3c59x driver which recognizes but does not seem to correctly
initialize the card.
Examining the image that the IS install floppy is using should
be able to quickly tell us whether or not it has the 3c90x driver
on it. As far as I can tell the user is pretty clueful and probably
really does have a 3c905c card in his machine. (We are aware that
IS is recommending the 3c905c cards and systems that contain this
card which is why we are trying to resolve the driver issue. If
you have a machine with a 3c905c card that you can easily reinstall,
please try the sipb install floppy on it and reconfirm the user's
report).
