I'm in the process of installing red-herring.mit.edu. In graphical
mode, after the account configuration screen, there's a delay of
several minutes, after clicking the next button, before anything
changes. Then the help screen updates, and another while later the
other half of the screen gets drawn. When the screen is finally
updated, the mouse tracks really badly, the first time I try to move
it, and then behaves normally, after a few seconds.
The highlighting behavior of the next button is also inconsistant.
This behavior continues up to and including the "about to install"
screen (I haven't got there yet).
The first time at the account configuration screen, I clicked
persistently, and jumped ahead by a few screens, so I rebooted and
started over. For this reason, I don't think it's a one-time thing.
The machine's pretty generic, as far as I know (though I haven't looked
inside of it ever).
This doesn't seem debuggable, but perhaps if other people have this
problem, we should document the "click only once and be very patient"
strategy.
