Disclaimer: we are not responsible if this installer kills your dog and
makes your monitor explode. It is, however, no more likely to eat the
wrong partition than the redhat installer is.
To test:
1) make yourself a redhat install floppy. You can find an image at
/afs/athena/system/rhlinux/redhat-6.2/images/bootnet.img
2) boot the floppy, and select "NFS install". Give
sipb-nfs:/u3/is-linux/redhat-6.2 when prompted for host and path.
If you end up in text mode at the package selection stage (that'll happen
if you mouse and video aren't very normal), select custom install, and
choose only the athena group of packages, later. (That you have to go
through this is being fixed, it might be already.)
There's (unreleased) documentation in
/afs/sipb/project/doc/ilinux/linux-net-install
If you decide to test, please email linux-dev and let us know how it went,
and which steps need more/different/better documentation.
If there's anyone else you think should test this, please have them talk
to us, rather than passing these instructions on yourself.
Good luck.
