install fails trying to boot to installer's kernel

I made a floppy with /mit/linux/rh-6.2/linux-install-floppy, this
afternoon.

When I booted it, I got to the lilo (boot:) prompt, and hit enter.  I got:

Loading initrd.img...........
Loading vmlinuz........
Boot failed: please change disks and press a key to continue.

The system has:
  K6 200MHz processor
  internal IDE disk
  3com 3c509 ethernet card
  Diamond Stealth 3D video card
Last time I installed it, I did so with the standard redhat-6.2 installer
which went without incident (although I did use text mode, out of habit).
