As discussed in the meeting tonight, yaz (DECstation 5000/25) was
decapitated to make space for a head that is more useful. yaz is in
the rack in the office and will use a serial console if someone
botheres to plug one in. Opus (r4600 INDY) is also in the rack. It
is position 2 on the switcher, but for no reason I can fathom is
having sync-ing problems with the monitor. It is available for remote
builds tho it is on an AUI drop which tends to make indy's irritable.
It's not clear that keeping this machine is really worthwhile, but it
is mostly out of the way for now. Cutter-john (P133) is now sittign
where yaz was and is running IS linux Athena off of an external 4G
disk taken from a decommissioned AFS server. You can log in as root
and mount /oldlinux if you want to look at the 4.2 install (still on
the internal disk). You can even boot the old install from the Lilo:
prompt. It's not currently remotely accessable. Hopefully, mkserv
will exist for these machines soon, which will make solving this
problme a lot easier. The old external from cj is sitting next to it,
I don;t think there is anything useful on it.
