I don't know whether there are still redhat-4.2-athena machines
in use, but if some sort of official "desupport" date is set, we
can finally stop worrying about them.

Does it sound reasonable to say something like
 "RedHat Athena 4.2 won't be supported after the end of 1999.
 We don't expect things to suddenly break, but we will stop testing
 software on that platform, and may not fix any new bugs that arise."

(It's be great if there were a way to push some "desupport"
message out to people who use version 4.2.)
