I know it works for the 3c905b -- is the 'c' that recent that
5.2 doesn't support it?  Do you know if Linux 2.0 supports the
3c509c?  You will most certainly need to turn off plug-and-pray,
and you will need to turn off media-autodetection (and specify
the 10BaseT media, assuming that's what you're using).  Assuming
the c is similar enough to the b, that should suffice.  Otherwise,
you'll need to either wait, or get a different, supported network
card and install using that.
