Subject: Making RedHat 5.2 into Redhat-Athena
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit

Hello,
I am triple booting Windows 95, Windows NT Workstation and Redhat
Linux 5.2. (I"m using Lilo to load linux or NT OS Loader, and the OS
Loader to choose Windows 95 or NT.) Everything in Redhat is working
fine. I tried to install the Athena stuff, and I got a few errors; it
wanted bind, and libncurses installed. I found these on the Redhat CD
and the Internet. It also said there was a conflict between Athena
Rootfiles and rootfiles. So I removed rootfiles. Then, it installed
the Athena stuff. But, when I rebooted, it gave a whole string of
function not found errors, and then when it brought up the Athena log-in
screen it wouldn't log me in (and it wouldn't login root with my root
password or with the Athena root password), and the log in box was set
partially off the screen. When I shut downt the Athena log-in window, I
was able to log into Linux and start X-Windows. Now, Linux seems to be
working normally once I do that, but Athena still won't work.
Ideally, I would like to get Athena working, and, failing that, I would
like to take it off my system so I can log in normally to redhat.

Thanks for your help.

Sincerely,

Stefanie Tellex
