I just successfully installed 8.2 on a fresh partition on Tux using
Derek's new boot disks. It's working pretty well, but there are still
a few (and only a few :-)) things we should deal with:
* The install server needs a bit more work:
o It doesn't present a choice of Athena configurations with degrees
of dependency on /srvd.
o It doesn't have the current XFree86 packages.
o It can't readily be updated.
* The libc5 package doesn't have useful libc5 libraries Red Hat
omitted, nor does it replace ldconfig and modify ld.so.conf to make
ld-linux.so DTRT.
* While sendmail's behavior is now more configurable (yay!), we don't
set DAEMON to no in /etc/sysconfig/sendmail.inst. We're also
dropping support for /etc/localusers. (Do we care?)
* We don't set the machine-dependent variables in /etc/athena/rc.conf
or the hostname in /etc/sysconfig/network. (Cosmetic.)
* We don't generate an ssh host key. (This would be more appropriate
for a "mkserv remote" script if we supported mkserv.)
* Root's dotfiles don't put /sbin or /usr/sbin in PATH.
Oh, and we should also probably double-check that we've pulled all the
patches we care about into source-sipb-8.2 and that everything is
effectively built from a fresh checkout of that.
