I noticed some oddities on snork today in Linux mode. First:

3 snorklewacker:nathanw>/usr/bin/w
  4:18pm up 13 days, 5:49, 9 users, load average: 0.03, 0.08, 0.04
USER TTY FROM LOGIN@ IDLE JCPU PCPU WHAT
nathanw ttyp1 :0.0 4:15pm 16:33 0.67s 0.67s vt
nathanw ttyp2 :0.0 4:15pm 0.00s 0.23s 0.04s /usr/bin/w
nathanw ttyp4 :0.0 4:15pm 3.00s 1.58s 0.31s -csh
nathanw ttyp3 :0.0 4:15pm 3:11 2.46s 2.26s top
nathanw tty2 4:16pm 1:07 1.11s 0.75s top
root tty3 4:16pm 1:13 0.79s 0.70s top
4 snorklewacker:nathanw>/usr/bin/who
nathanw ttyp1 Nov 10 16:15 (:0.0)
nathanw ttyp2 Nov 10 16:15 (:0.0)
nathanw ttyp4 Nov 10 16:15 (:0.0)
nathanw ttyp3 Nov 10 16:15 (:0.0)
root tty1 Nov 5 02:55
nathanw tty2 Nov 10 16:16
svalente ttyp1 Nov 10 02:42 (starbasezero.ne.mediaone.net)
ghudson ttyp4 Nov 5 16:20 (SMALL-GODS.MIT.EDU)
root tty3 Nov 10 16:16

Also, /usr/bin/who occasionally paused for a couple of seconds
before printing out the line for svalente and before printing out the
line for ghudson. I'm guessing that that's for name resolution, since
/etc/resolv.conf doesn't point to the local machine (What's up with
that?).

Running ps indicated that neither ghudson nor svalente had any
processes running, so this smells like some kind of utmp lossage.

I also had some lossage with /usr/bin/top; it works fine in an
xterm, but fails to list any processes when run from a console; it
only displays down to the "PID USER PRI...." header. Fiddling with
$term and $TERM didn't help.
