although this won't yield success in many or even most examples (dependencies
exist for a reason), there is a switch in rpm installer/upgrader '--nodeps'
which forces rpm to ignore dependency problems. i had to use it while
installing either my x-windows upgrade or the x-server itself for my card
(don't remember which--maybe both).
