5.1 ttylogin package problem

I noticed the 5.1 packages in the linux locker, so I installed them onto a
stock 5.1 installation to see what would happen. A Bad Thing (tm) ensued. I
can't login to the system, either as local root or as an Athena user. I
just get a "login incorrect" message, with no Kerberos function reference,
and I don't notice any network activity, for Hesiod calls or something.
I talked to someone who recalled hearing about this, but couldn't recall
any of the specifics. Any suggestions on what to change, or is it fixed in
a newer version somewhere?
