Thanks. I'd like to help (since I seem to have a lot of time on my
hands during the day).
Off the top of my head:
- Someone needs to install the Athena packages on a RedHat 5.1 system
and see what works and what fails. The rc package is particularly
interesting, since it attempts to patch some files in /etc using
patches that worked with RedHat 4.2. I don't know if the patches will
work with RedHat 5.1.
- emacs didn't build for me because it tried to link movemail without
-lresolv. I guess someone needs to find a way to make it use -lresolv
on Linux without breaking it for other platforms.
- After installing all the packages, do something like
find /usr/athena -type f -print | sort
and compare the output to /mit/svalente/tmp/FILES. This should help
us figure out what was left out of package-lists.
- Maybe try copying the packages to sipb-nfs and see if the
Athena-ized install works...
In a nutshell: "Find out what doesn't work and make it work." :-)
Thanks,
Sal.
