I added another disk to bloom-picayune for RedHat-Athena. I put a few
files on it (the last few weeks of RedHat 4.2 i386 rpm updates),
although presumably you'll want to delete those or move them into a
better directory. The only suggestion I have is to not mention the
availability of the NFS filesystem to random people/lists who have no
connection with MIT or MIT people, to try to prevent the load on the
server from getting too high. We currently don't have any useful way
to restrict the NFS export to hosts at MIT.

Hello.
[If this is not the correct mailing list for this message, I beg your
forgiveness.]
I'd like to run the RedHat-Athena install server on sipb-nfs
(currently bloom-picayune). This would require somewhere in the realm
of 300 to 500 megs of disk space. (It would be nice to have twice
that, since it would be nice to have the two most recent RedHat-Athena
distributions available.)
This disk space would not need to be backed up to tape, since all of
the non-Athena files can be restored from other ftp sites, and all of
the Athena files can be restored from AFS.
In order to run this service, I guess I would need the disk space, an
account on the machine, and any guidelines that exist on the topic of
"how to not screw-up the foo-server." Can these things be provided?
Thanks,
Sal.
