I tried and entered shared library and dependency hell. It might be
possible, but it would be easier/saner to just upgrade the whole
system, which isn't possible. (The machine is an old
hand-installed mostly-Slackware microchannel machine).
There may be other people in the same boat. Before eliminating or
upgrading any of the srvd's, we should really send email to
linux-announce to make sure there aren't too many objections (and to
just give people a chance to switch over).
