First of all, please do NOT send subscription requests to
linux-help@mit.edu or linux-announce@mit.edu. They are both mailing
lists with a large number of people on them who do not want to see
subscription requests. (Mail sent to those addresses immediately goes
out to everyone).
Secondly, why are you interested in subscribing to these lists?
All of these lists are primarily for the MIT Linux-Athena distribution.
Although some of the packages _may_ work outside of MIT, many of them
are configured to only really work at MIT without modification. Some
of the packages may also have licensing issues which prohibit them
being used outside of MIT. (I'm not familiar with exactly which
packages are restricted in this way).
