Hi,
I am considering installing RedHat Linux Athena on my office
machine. I just read the SIPB "Inessential Linux-Athena" and
have some questions:

 - Exactly how does RedHat Linux Athena 4.0 differ from plain Redhat 4.0?
I am guessing you add Kerberos and AFS support. What other
differences are there?

 - What software is available for Linux on Athena?
You mention Matlab and Maple, but that FrameMaker is not available.
Athena is promising Corel Draw - will it be available on Linux?
Is there a list of linux-supported Athena software that adds
to the RedHat 4.0? Is Athena committed to buying major commercial
software packages for Linux if it supports them on SGI and Sun?

 - You mention it is possible to have a local home directory.
I would like my home directory come off my research groups' NFS server.
How do I do that?

 - Let's say I all I want is to be able to access Matlab and Maple on Athena.
Can I do this just by getting AFS to run, and just typing
in the path for the executable, without all Athena specific
things like passwords, login procedures and whatnot (Linux-Athena may
be an overkill for the task?). Or perhaps the main task of
Linux-Athena is precisely getting AFS to run?

 - If I have problems with Athena-Redhat, is it possible
to go back to regular RedHat 4.0 without reinstalling everything,
and changing lots of configuration parameters?

Thanks a lot for giving some insights into these questions,
or perhaps recommend some other sources.
