Someone at OSF offered to come over and upgrade MkLinux on Gene

I assume that installing DR2 is not a complicated process. I'm sure
that any Sipb member is competent enough to install it. We shouldn't
need the aid of one of the system developers. (Installing DR1 was
actually easier than installing any i386 Linux distribution I've ever
installed, since there were no options. The process was "double click
on this icon and come back tomorrow.)
Having said all that, it's a nice offer that can save me (or somebody
else) a little time and effort, and we should certainly accept.

There's not. Apparently, we've been offered pre-release software...
Cool.
they recompiled the entire damn thing with a different version of
gcc. Hence, there's binary incompatibility with DR1
Wrong. DR1 and DR2 are binary compatable. However, they fixed a bug
in MkLinux gcc so they recommend everything be recompiled anyway.
