I think I fixed this. Can you try the new ktelnet package?
attach linux
rpm -U /mit/linux/packages/RedHat/RPMS/i386/ktelnet-1.0-4.i386.rpm
This should fix the problem.

PS: On a side note, I also created a new misc package which includes
sendbug, synctree, and tellme.
