Hi all,
I just recently installed RedHat 3.0.3 on my system, and like its ease of
installation. Installing the packages from linux-athena were pretty
convenient too, and I had virtually no problems, but two related (I think)
to the sendmail.tgz package conflicting with RedHat organization. When
trying to send mail, I got two errors from sendmail:
1) NOQUEUE: SYSERR(ericding): cannot chdir(/usr/spool/mqueue): No such file or directory
2) NOQUEUE: SYSERR(ericding): db_map_open: cannot pre-open database /usr/lib/aliases.db: No such file or directory
For the first, mail is not delivered; for the second, mail is delivered but
the error message appears. This isn't an MH problem, as it occurs even
using regular mail. I believe the problem is that sendmail is looking in
those two places, rather than /var/spool/mqueue and /etc/aliases.db, which
is where they dwell on this system. For the time being, I've simply set up
soft links for the files/directories. Any other ideas, or is this the best
fix? Is this because athena's sendmail overwrites (?) the system's native
sendmail package (does it), or is this a RedHat bug?
Thanks,
Eric
