Linux-dev is only for people doing development. This is because
it is a group which has write access over the files in a number of
lockers. Letting arbitrary users add themselves consitutes
a significant security risk (eg, a login binary could be replaced
with a trojan horse which logs passwords). The current policy
is that only sipb members may be added to the list.

This does not prevent you from sending mail to the list.
You should also be able to read the linux-dev discuss meeting
(in /usr/spool/discuss/linux-dev on charon).

Sorry. This has nothing to do with you. It is a
general policy created to safeguard users of linux-athena.

	Erik
