Oops, my fault. I "hid" halt, shutdown, and reboot to test my theory
that one of them was screwing up /etc/wtmp. This theory hasn't panned
(it got screwed up without them), so I moved them back.
The reason it wouldn't boot is the afs-nfs translator on atalanta went
down. I switched quiche to use ni (again) and it works.
