write/writed is associated with olc becuase the olc server writes
to you if you are logged in but it cannot send you Zephyrgrams.
You can see this annoying behavior by running olc or olcr with
no zwgc running.  I guess someone could have a question about
why zwgc dies on them, but other than that, it's not very important.
But the ability to send messages non-interactively without the
use of zephyr has always been important.  It is possible that
olc used write before Zephyr was available.  I was around at the
time, but I don't remember, because I didn't ask many olc questions.
