I've created a new mailing list ("pc-dialup") for discussion of the
trial use of an x86 PC (running NetBSD, at least initially) as an
Athena timesharing platform. Those on the "To:" line of this message
are already on the list, since they had previously expressed interest.

Since this is an experiment rather than a service, I'm not putting
bug-dialup on the list, but some members may be interested in joining.
If there's enough interest from the members of netbsd-dev, we can put
the netbsd-dev list itself on pc-dialup, rather than have one or two
dozen individual subscriptions.

The "pc-dialup" list is public, so Athena users can add themselves.
Otherwise, at least Yoav and I can add people. It won't become an
active mailing list, though, until after the nightly aliases update.
I know this will be a challenge, but please don't reply to this mail
with any pc-dialup discussion. Wait for the list to exist first,
*then* you can flame.

Initial discussion on the list should include what hardware
configuration to get, issues of compatibility (eg: drivers and MITnet)
and perhaps some preliminary OS tuning/configuration specifics for a
timesharing system. Not all discussion will take place on the list,
but results of offline discussions should end up there.
