For a comprehensive discussion of numerical methods for ODE's:

   E. Hairer, S.P. Norsett, and G. Wanner
Solving Ordinary Differential Equations I. Nonstiff Problems,
volume 8 of "Computational Mathematics", Springer 1987

   For Athena users:

Simulink has a number of methods available for numerical integration,
including 2 Runge-Kutta schemes, Gear's predictor-corrector method and
Adams predictor corrector. See the Simulink manual for a description
of uses, strengths and weaknesses. Source code is available in the
Matlab locker.
