The new release of Maple V release 2 is now installed and available for
Athena DECstations. The new release is *not* the supported one, but
people are invited to try it out. To start the application from the
Athena prompt, just type:

	athena% add maple.new; maple.new

To try out the new tutorial from within maple.new. From the Maple ">"
prompt, just type:

	> tutorial();

The existing Maple documentation from Springer Verlag still applies to
the new version; updated information is located in Maple's online help.
You can invoke the new help browser from the pull-down Help menu.

Do not ask the Athena OLC consultants for support on this version of
the package. While the older release of Maple is supported, staff have
just begun looking at the new one. As bugs are found, they will be
documented in /mit/maple.new/doc/README.bugs. Any new bugs you may find
should be reported via email to bug-maple@mit.edu. Be sure to indicate in
the bug report that you were using Maple V release 2, and not the previous
version, and provide as much detail about the circumstances surrounding
the bug as you can.

As we receive feedback and correct problems, it is possible that the
organization of the locker or the appearance of the application itself
may change. You will find a useful summary of the status of the locker
contained in the /mit/maple.new/README.athena file.

For (non-Athena) MIT users of SUN workstations, you can contact Software
Acquisitions for information on how to get the SUN 4 version of Maple V
release 2.
