KTH Kerberos comes with libeditline, supposedly a drop-in replacement for
libreadline which is claimed to be much lighterweight as well.  I believe it
is under a BSD copyright (indeed, I think this is why it was written) but I
can't get at my source tree at the moment to verify it.  It might be a valid
replacement for readline.  Added benefit of course is that people on systems
where a shared libreadline is almost always loaded anyhow (ie Linux) can
just link against libreadline.
