zwgc and server not available

I haven't heard anything from this list since I subscribed, but
here it goes...
What should happen when one starts zwgc and the server(s) aren't
reachable? Right now it prints "Connection timed out while
subscribing" and just hangs.
The problem occurs when this is in the login scripts and the
server(s) aren't available, then the login hangs, and nothing
can get it back.
Shouldn't it die gracefully or atleast fork and keep trying?
Or am I doing something completely wrong? To get around this
I have done "zwgc -ttymode &", but I don't like to mess up the login
with pid numbers...
Zephyr 2.0.2, HP-UX 9.01, NO kerberos or hesiod...
