Hello all,
I have run into a computer problem of a fairly unique nature that
I am hoping that someone out there may have some suggestions as to how to
attack. You will have to pardon, as I am not a regular reader of this
list, so I don't know what format questions are usually asked in, but here
goes:
The components:
HIQ PC running Win98 2nd edition (fully updated), 16GB hard drive, 192 MB RAM
Matrox Millennium G450 LX dual head video card
Delphi (1) - Pascal-based programming program
The problem in a nut-shell:
I have written a program that will allow me to display images on the second
monitor in Delphi. This works fine with the exception of when I ask it to
display bit maps on the 2nd monitor, i.e. I can ask it to display a circle
of all one color, and that works out fine, but the bit maps do not
appear. On the 1st (primary) monitor, this is not a problem.
What I have tried:
- I ran the exact same Delphi program on someone else's setup with dual
monitors - it displays everything on both monitors just fine. The only
difference was that the other setup had a newer video card.
- Bought a new video card (the currently installed one) so that it was the
same as the one on the other setup - this fixed the problem.
- I had to re-arrange the setup that I work at, and when I plugged
everything back in, just the way I had it before, the same freaky problem
is back.
- I tried uninstalling and re-installing the drivers for the video card and
physically taking the card in and out.
- I have tried many combinations of at least 4 different monitors. No
matter the brand or type (flat screen or tube) the same problem exists on
the 2nd non-primary monitor.
At this point I am at a complete loss... if anyone has any ideas, I would
appreciate it.
