Bryant,
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to attend the meeting for many
months. Seems my schedule is always overloaded during that day. I hope to
be able to attend more sessions in the future.
One thing that would be nice is to have an agenda as far in advance as
possible.
Guest speakers would be ok as long as the subject matter is relevant to
having a speaker presentation. ITAG already has pizza lunches with guest
speakers and I'd hate to see the NT partners lunch start to mimic
this. I'd prefer to see solutions to problems, work arounds, and new
software/features. At times, these can be accomplished with guest
speakers. Other times, a live demo is better.
Perhaps, too, we could have a suggestion box (web page) and feed ideas for
topics. Then we could ask the partners to rate the topics to preference
and help prioritize sessions. For example, I'm having a real problem with
a couple of W2000 machines connecting to a NT domain
controller. Everything is OK except their roaming profiles don't work. I
deployed 9 machines. 6 work and 3 don't. They were cloned from one
machine. So, I'd put on the suggestion box a session on W2000 permissions
and how they inter operate with NT permissions. If enough partners
"voted" on this session, then it would be scheduled. We could see what is
coming down the pipe according to the interest noted on the web page.
I realize that these concepts are taught in the week-long classes, but I
have trouble clearing my calendar for a solid week. So, some of the core
components of system administration that are taught during the week-long
class maybe could be presented during these one-hour sessions.
My two cents.
OH..... everyone likes free food.... I'll bring the beer :)
