Re: TSM Mac 4.1 Product Release Effort

Product Release Effort Underway
-------------------------------
Recently Tivoli made available version 4.1 of its TSM backup client
for Macintosh (formerly called ADSM). Since then a release team has
been convened who's intent is to create a customized installer,
update documentation and training, and help ensure that support areas
are ready when the product is released.

New Features
------------
- A new product name: Tivoli Storage Manager (formerly known as
ADSTAR Distributed Storage Manager (ADSM))

- An improved Preferences editor that allows you to edit additional
preferences like include-exclude preferences, authorization
preferences, Web client preferences, command line preferences, and
diagnostic preferences

- Enhanced performance: During each process, TSM automatically allows
for multiple sessions per user connection.

- A improved installation process using an MIT customized installer to provide
a quick and easy TSM(ADSM) installation.

Testing
-------
We will be soliciting testers within the next few weeks and will send
a separate message with details.

Status of Release Effort
------------------------
Within the next month we will have more information available
regarding our testing and the status of the release.

In the meantime, you can go to http://web.mit.edu/swrt/tsm for
further review of the team's efforts.
