Problems with Installing Office 2000 on an NTFS partition on a W2K

Hi All,
I have noticed that when I install Office 2000 (from an administrative
share) to an NTFS partition on a W2K machine, I encounter a number of
registry/file system permission errors. These problems occur because
the installer locks down certian files insanely tightly, even to the
point of shutting out the administrator and system accounts.
Unfortunately, you cannot reverse these setting in 2000 (the explorer
crashes when you try), and you have to connect to the machine via the
administrative share from an NT box and reset them. The directory in
question is the C:\WINNT\INSTALLER and all its subdirectories. As for
the registry problems you encounter, I am still looking for a solution
to them--they primarily manifest themselves by popping up a "please wait
while the installation finishes" dialog box when you open any Microsoft
Office product.
All of these problems can be avoided if the partition on the 2000
machine is FAT during the installation. If you are setting up a new
computer, then I implore you to wait until you have finished installing
all the program files before you convert the partition to NTFS. The
problems will not occur if you convert to NTFS after the programs are
installed.

searching Technet and also doing a number of tests on PCs in the domain
