QUALITY ASSURANCE COORDINATOR - Software Release Process Team, Information
Systems
JOB SUMMARY: This is an exciting opportunity to play an integral role on a
new team at MIT dedicated to handling software recommendations and managing
releases of customized software to thousands of users within the MIT
community.
The Quality Assurance Coordinator will support the activities of the
Software Release Process Team responsible for managing the release of
customized software.
Some key responsibilities of the QA Coordinator include: coordinate
testing of Macintosh and Windows software; maintain a pool of volunteer
testers; develop and maintain testing plans and feedback mechanisms;
maintain equipment; accounts, documentation and guidelines; assist in
software distribution; coordinate (and, on occasion, deliver) training for
testers. The QA Coordinator will also regularly brief (via summary
reports) the Software Release Team leader on various issues and
propose recommendations for courses of action.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Minimum 3-5 years' experience in technical
systems support including: hardware and software installation and use,
network connectivity, and LAN/system administration/support. Extensive
hands-on experience with Windows and Macintosh operating systems,
associated hardware, peripheral equipment, and basic applications. Strong
understanding of application interdependencies. Excellent communication
skills. Leadership or supervisory experience.
NON-TECHNICAL COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTST: Team player with solid
interpersonal skills, detail orientation, a positive attitude and
demonstrated initiative, critical thinking, and problem solving skills.
Must be an agile learner, an innovative and quick thinker, able to use
knowledge, experience and available resources to find solutions and take
appropriate action. Must be able to translate technical or procedural
information into specifications or action plans; to probe to discover
unexpressed information; to absorb, summarize and feed back complex
information for a variety of uses; to work independently and simultaneously
on multiple initiatives; to adapt to, and maintain focus when, unexpected
changes occur in project requirements.
DESIRED: Strong quality assurance experience.
SALARY: This position is a Grade Level 2 position; the starting salary for
this position will be between $35,000 and $48,000, depending upon
experience, skills and abilities.
RESIDENCY/WORK STATUS: Must be eligible to work in the US; MIT does not
sponsor or transfer visas.
