We just got a new Dell Latitude notebook, Win NT 4.0 sp5. It came with a
Psion/Dacom Gold Card 56K V.90 modem card which seems to check out fine,
except that it won't recognize the Tether modem pool. I've tried
connecting at slower speeds (e.g. 2400), and have it set to recognize any
authentication, all to no avail. It dials and I can hear the carrier tone
and connection, yet it times out and says that it did not detect a modem on
the other end.
Has anyone else run into this? Is there an init string that will put this
aright? Will I be able to send Lydia off on business with some assurance
that she can get to her email? Thanks.
