Hi Everyone,
This is a heads up to anyone who has installed SP5 or is considering
it. This is not a recommendation to move to it yet.
VirusScan 4.0.2 (and I imagine VirusShield for Servers 4.0.2) will not
update the virus definition file manually or via a schedule for SP5
systems. The solution from NAI was to uninstall, reboot and
reinstall. There will be more information soon on
http://web.mit.edu/security/www/isovirus2.htm#winnt
Please take a look at any systems that have SP5 installed and check your
Virus Definition date and version. The public release is 21 July 1999,
4.0.4035. Note that I had to uninstall 4.0.2 to get this
fixed. Installing over and preserving settings, such as schedules, did not
work.
