I'd avoid DAT drives. Even products from typically high-quality
manufacturers like HP seem to have really poor life spans. We use Travan
TR-4's for individual servers, which hold 4 GB native and up to 8 GB with
compression. They now come with EIDE or SCSI interfaces so they're not
hobbled by the floppy controller like the older QIC technology. We're
using the HP/Colorado's.
For high volume backups of multiple servers many people report good
success with Exabyte 8mm drives.
