Quite right.  I've heard that the numbers can vary quite a bit, even
if you take the test within a few days, and I don't think that 3
points is particularly significant.

Unfortunately, I never had a test when I was eating the SAD (Standard 
American Diet).  I bet those numbers would have differed significantly,
but there's no way to tell.

Do we have any meat-eaters on the list who will agree to a cholesterol
test, then a totally veggie diet for, say, a year?  OK, so I have an
ulterior motive here - getting someone to try vegetarianism for a year
is a win even if we get no meaningful data.  I think it's only fair,
actually, I tried the SAD for 18 years, after all (maybe the first
couple don't count).
