Tonight, on Channel 4 in Boston,
Temple Grandin will discuss AUTISM.

What is intereresting is that
TEMPLE GRANDIN is a woman who has become
world famous in the reformist movement around
animal agriculture.

She is herself AUTISTIC and, steeped heavily
in animal agriculture, she went as far as she
could without repudiating animal agriculture,
and instead went to great effort to create
devices that would kill the animals with less suffering.

While this is not really the most noble goal,
to say the least, it is interesting to see what
one person did to muffle the agony, yet without
really seeing the need to abolish -
AND to understand her motivations.

She worked out of a personal motivation -
an empathy for other autistic children.

Her argument, according to Lee Stephanie ____,
a Cape Cod author I chatted with on Sunday,
was that nonverbal nonhumans think like
Autistic children, and the agony of looking
forward to one's demise, and to one's
continuing torture in animal abuse and
exploitation, was something that she could
poignantly understand, and wanted to help
alleviate.

Channel 4 tonight, Thursday, 10:00 PM EST.
