am looking for some blazes to pass on to you . . .
My name is Rita Zilberman & I head the Brown Animal Rights Coalition (BARC)
on campus -- wld like to locate some solid activites to pass on -- though
to be honest, BARC's actions are now concentrated around planning for the
New England Vegetarian Conference we're hosting in April & there's not
enough active membership right now to be organized with too many other
things w/out some serious burnout (at least on my part).
But here's the present attempt at Meatout agenda:
the dining halls will be preparing an all-out fancy special vegan meatout
meal for dinner on 3/20 & we plan to pad the entranceways with much meatout
info and pledge signing opps. There will also be an information table
monday through wednesday of that week set up in the post office -- hopefully
some free food via donors to FARM will be hanging about -- last year we had
an informational event with live bands & free food & info giveaways in the
vegetarian snackbar on campus. hopefully we can pursue a similar path this
time around. last year we also had Ron Pickarski come speak, so why not
Maynard Clark w/ this go at it? Karen Iokobo (hope the spelling's right)
might also be speaking for the event & we'd like to organize some film
screenings -- also possibilities of joining forces w/folks from MIT in a
larger endeavor -- any other ideas/suggestions/help offerings?
hope this convoluded explanation was of some use -- I will attempt to be
more coherent & elucidate as plans come together . . .
