Here is what was talked about at last night's meeting... It's great reading
;) because it contains several big events the Vegetarian Support Group (vsg)
is planning for the Spring term! Namely:
I) Meatout
II) all-vegetarian-animalissues Thistle Issue coinciding with meatout!
III) Other discussion
IV) Proposed VSG events & dates
I) Great American Meatout, March 20, sponsored nationally by FARM (Farm Animal
Reform Movement), 1-800-MEATOUT. ("Pledge to kick the meat habit for one
day!")
a) get sponsors, to donate food, materials, etc in exchange for
advertising/publicity
- bread and circus
- harvest co-op
- laverdes on campus
b) MIT Medical
c) MIT Foodservice
- campus-wide meat-free day (something which was suggested by foodservices
earlier)
- No burger king that day?
- distribute literature at tables?
- stand outside lobdell!
d) WMBR -- run a spot about the meatout?
- press releases to Boston Globe, etc
e) Get other campuses involved
- Harvard, Wellesley, BU, Tufts, NEConservatory...
f) Reserve facilities
- Lobby 10
- Drop poster!
- 1-390 for video showing
- Kresge lobby for free feast?
g) LSC co-sponsor a speaker?
h) Harvard animal defense fund, contact?
i) Diet for a new america video showing in 1-390! w/ food?
j) ask SAVE to get involved.
