I believe there will be a story on tonight's CBS Evening News (Tuesday) about
the meat industry... the ad I saw asked the question "why doesn't beef cost
as much as it should?" The story probably refers to the US taxpayer dollars
that go into subsidizing the livestock industry. In 1989's "Diet for a New
America," John Robbins claims that if the water used by the meat industry were
not subsidized by US taxpayers, the cost of common hamburger meat would be
$35/pound! I hope the news story is well researched.

And if the story isn't on tonight, I guess I'll just be a little embarassed!
