{ Please forgive us if there is duplication. }
{Please read carefully!  There are many, many issues here.}
{Careful reading a must!!!}

The 1996 Vegetarian Food Fair plans are being solidified.

The current plans are:

(1)
MIT Vegetarian Support Group hosts a large event on the MIT campus
for April 28 (Sunday). Final date and exact location is still being negotiated
.
The entire event will be readily accessible by public transportation,
and we believe that extensive free parking will be made available.
{We currently think that admission to the event will be free to the public.
That isn't a given yet, but we sort of think this is the case.}

Other campus sites and groups didn't respond with the alacrity and
aplomb shown by the outstanding spirits, minds, and hearts of
the techies at MIT. Their local group organizations moved with
the rapidity of a well-trained army and identified all the logistical issues
and resolved them point by point.

The Vegetarian Resource Center couldn't have asked for more.

(2)
We believe that we will have room for 100-150 outstanding vegetarian vendors.

(3)
Some local vegetarian groups from around New England will be invited to
participate, but we would like to see requests from groups with outstanding
investments in saleable books who can bring high quality resources to this
event.
We would like to see a request very soon from the Maine Vegetarian Resource
Network, since (under the leadership of S. Greenfield) they appear to
present the most effective vegetarian literature sales organization in New
England.

(4)
Volunteers are needed to work
(a) On the day of the event
(b) In planning, before the event, beginning now.
(c) In contacting vendors and other businesses
(d) In advising the core planning team
(e) In assisting us in financial and marketing aspects of making this an
outstanding event that will do so well the first year that we will be able
to have a similar and better event each year.

We need: An accountant or an outstanding bookkeeper
                        Some vegetarian with marketing savvy
(How about someone with copywriting and designing
experience and expertise?)
                        Child care experts
A volunteer coordinator for the event
                        Community liaisons
Campus liaisons - someone to recruit college
students to attend this event, whether or not they are currently
vegetarians; also someone on each campus to work with other campus groups to
bring them into the event. Students - don't volunteer for more than you can
really deliver!! We need concrete, realistic, reliable commitments. We
fail if you fail to come through.
Strong backs to work on the Saturday evening before,
setting up 100-150 tables and 300-450 chairs, plus equipment
                        Audio engineers
Culinary professionals to help us coordinate food
concessions
Recycling experts to coordinate materials handling
issues on campus in three buildings
Go-fers to move professional speakers to places on time
.
Secretarial staff to help us with our correspondence
Media professionals to work with radio, TV,
newspapers, magazines, for free (or low cost) publicity
People people who can interest many different
constituencies in what we are doing -
Culinary professionals to do food demonstrations
Audio-Visual experts to make our video events excellent

(5)
THEME or RATIONALE:
Presenting to the general public the hows (and to a lesser extent why's) of
a meatless diet.

(6)
CONTENTS of the VFF:
The Boston area Vegetarian Food Fair will include:

(from probably 9 or 10 AM until 6 or 7 PM)

All day long - speakers on various issues in vegetarian living
All day long - vegetarian child care with constructive learning and social
relations activities
All day long - vendor exhibits showing their wares
All day long - food vendors serving food itself
All day long - videos on topics of vegetarian interest
All day long - culinary demonstrations

(7)
WHAT WE NEED:
PLEASE help us recruit these needed volunteers. Currently we have over 45
volunteers. IF you have already volunteered, please indicate again, so that
we know that we haven't lost you, or that you haven't "slipped through the
cracks."

Life is good! Let's share with others!!
