Subject: VEG-NE
The VEG-NE listserver is scheduled to be installed next (not this) weekend,
the weekend of World Vegetarian Day (October 1).
Our charter will be simple, with the intention of
(1) facilitating the formation of generic vegetarian interest networks
throughout New England,
(2) helping the vegetarian people of New England find one another, help one
another, and live better lives as vegetarians,
(3) informing New England vegetarians of vegetarian-friendly events,
resources, opportunities, and people.
****
comments, additions, subtractions, suggestions to a proposed charter,
including wording, would be most appreciated.
The list at this point is intended to be open so that it will be possible to
publicize the list widely.
If, however, this constituency would like a more closed list, some
discussion needs to be generated from you, the first potential subscribers
to VEG-NE.
Vegetarians from ALL OVER NEW ENGLAND will be encouraged to subscribe.
Should inquirers be encouraged to subscribe, or should our intention be to
bring together persons who are truly oriented towards vegetarian-living at
this stage in their lives?
What kinds of conversations would be appropriate for such a list (???
vegetarian summer camps for kids in the Northeast, vegetarian restaurants in
Vermont, nonleather ski boots, vegetarian-friendly towns and cities in New
England, 4th Annual New England Vegetarian Conference, whether or not to
begin a new vegetarian society in a town that already has one, etc. ???),
and what kinds of conversations might NOT be appropriate for this particular
list (??? eg. Aunt Matilda's struggle with her word processor???)???
Input, please. Direct the original thoughts to VRC at vrc@tiac.net, and
direct it very, very soon.
Proposed charters would be most appreciated.
Those who want discussion to be redirected back to them should so indicate.
The input you give will determine in some measure what VEG-NE becomes.
