I thought this was cute (it's from another list, where the topic is raising
veggie kids)

It has been my observation that children raised as vegetarians will prefer
not to eat meat. At our school we serve a vegetarian menu. Occaisionally
the cook makes some pretty close look alikes to meat. There has been more
than one veg kid who refused to eat because they thought it was the real
thing. On a humorus note, I once had a child come tattling: "Teacher,
Teacher, that kid over there is eating REAL MEAT!" (not all of our students
are vegetarian) If you as parents only serve and eat vegetarian meals, your
child will likely never want to change. Remember however that any child
eventually will want to "try" the new and different. Especially if their
friends are doing it. I would say it is best not to pressure your child.
Try not to make a big deal out of it if some day they tell you they at
some. If you ask them what they thought about it, they will probably tell
you they didn't care for it.
