I have a catalog of products available from a kosher company in Illinois that
makes jello type mixes, plain gelatin (great for cooking), and marshmallows.
They call their products Parave. I called them up and they were very
friendly on the phone. Sounds like a small operation! From what I
understand, they made up the term parave to mean NO animal or meat products,
no matter how far derived from the original source.

The guy I spoke to seemed to feel that it was (from a Jewish view point)
wrong to call gelatin made from pig and cow hides pareve, no matter how
processed. I got the impression that this company was formed in opposition
for this trend.
