The author of the above cookbook, Edward Espe Brown, just *happens* to be
the chef at this fantastic (read: expensive) gourmet VEGETARIAN restaurant
in San Francisco at Fort Mason (accessible by public transportation, for
anyone visiting the area.) It's called _Green's_ , and they have a
wonderful cookbook out with the same title. I am a little disappointed
that it does not have more vegan stuff in it, but at least there's not a
trace of meat.
The book is not a beginner's book in that it assumes a certain level of
cooking ability, but anyone interested in it could probably find it in a
bookstore. I don't know how much it costs, because my husband gave it to
me for Christmas, but it doesn't look cheap. I think it is worth the
price; often I substitute low-fat or tofu-cheese for some of the
ingredients and have had great success.
Cheers,
queenie
