i was noticing that as i read a "five a day" pamphlet i found in lobdell
(side note - havent been there in a year or so; they had a LOT of
literature on vegetarianism. is the food keeping up with this? if so,
id say vsg - or someone - has had a big affect on campus dining!)

they said increase consumption of fruits and vegetables, increase
consumption of starches, increase consumption of legumes... the
noticable absense is "and decrease consumption of meat and dairy" (or
are we supposed to eat alot more than normal? :)

awhile back someone mailed the "meat may kill more than smoking" thing,
and the author pointed out medical associations that advice "adopting
many aspects of the vegetarian diet" without coming out and say "be vegetarian"
they say that you should eat more fruits and vegetables, and sometimes
even that there are "indications" that meat correlates to some diseases,
or that vegetarians have X% less incidences of cancer, stroke, etc, but
nobody ever says "vegetarians are simpy healthier. do it"
